The Strange Demise of British Canada: The Liberals and Canadian Nationalism, 1964-1968 ReviewThis is a wonderful and detailed look at Canadian history. All of that said, I cannot believe I paid over $95 American Dollars for a hardcover edition of this book and amazon couldn't be troubled to include the book's dust cover when they shipped the book to me. The color image on the dust cover (from a 1964 newsreel) is very significant to historical details in the text. Save your money and buy the paperback edition (especially if you are giving this book as a gift). Better yet, buy this book from another bookseller (someone who will respect the book's integrity). In this situation, not including the pictorial dust cover actually detracted from the editorial irony and "punch" of the author's message. I feel like I have been ripped off. Some of us, in this era of kindle, still delight in the design, tactile feel, and appearance of a real book as a "completed whole" and as a "work of art" (in addition to just the written words). The research in this book is a work of tremendous effort --unfortunately-- entrusted to an unreliable and very unworthy bookseller. It is evident a great deal of thought and wit went into designing the book's cover. A great deal of neglect, carelessness, and disregard (for the author, book designer, and reader) went into the handling and shipping of this book.The Strange Demise of British Canada: The Liberals and Canadian Nationalism, 1964-1968 Overview
