The Story That Brought Me Here: To Alberta From Everywhere ReviewCalgary's Pages bookstore hosted the lively second launch of journalist and writer Linda Goyette's new book The Story that Brought Me Here: To Alberta from Everywhere on Nov. 21, 2008. Along with presenting her book, which shares Goyette's impressions of Canada, the event also featured contributions from various immigrant writers.
A diverse crowd of about 35 people enjoyed live readings from contributing writers, such as:
Comfort Ero, originally from Nigeria, now lives in Surrey, B.C.
I.K. Ero, who is Comfort's daughter, is a law student at the University of Calgary.
Therezinha Franca Kennedy, originally from Brazil, now lives in Edmonton.
Patricia Lopez de Vloothuis, originally from Mexico, who is now based in Edmonton.
I.K. and Comfort Ero offered a dramatic dialogue together entitled "Pieces of a Journey: An Email Memoir." The mother and daughter duo read together and separately in a poetic chorus about their journey to Canada.
All the authors present stayed to sign books and discuss their work. The Story That Brought Me Here: To Alberta From Everywhere Overview
