Death of a Secret (A Barbara O'Grady Mystery: 1) ReviewWow! I just finished reading Rowse's Lost Mines mystery set in the early 1900's and then noticed on amazon.com that she had also written a female P.I. mystery set in present day Vancouver. This one's a page turner too. Rowse obviously has no problem at all shifting between eras. Her present day P.I. Barbara peppers herself and her readers with questions and possibilities in a non-stop breakneck search for the truth! There's no room for slackers on this quest! Nonetheless, Rowse's protagonist shows great empathy and humour with equal amounts of ease and her characters are all quite distinct and believable with their own secrets and stories to hide. Barbara is a character that the reader wants to root for!! Go Barbara go! Will there be an upcoming second installment soon???Death of a Secret (A Barbara O'Grady Mystery: 1) OverviewBook Description:"There are two things that stick in my mind about the Stewart affair; the look of surprise frozen on the face of Ed McMather's corpse, and that first meeting with Cassie Stewart." A cheating husband. A lying client. A DNA test gone wrong.Artist-turned investigator Barbara O'Grady frantically searches for a shadowy killer in an investigation with roots deep in the past. A twisting tale of old secrets, treachery and death.DEATH OF A SECRET is 75,000 words. From the Back Cover:Artist-turned-PI Barbara O'Grady finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation when the supposedly straightforward case of a cheating husband proves to be anything but. Long forgotten scandals and murders surface when Senator Ed McMather is found dead in his own kitchen with a look of surprise on his face. With a client she doesn't trust, the unexpected appeal of her client's all too attractive husband and her own long-renounced artistic dreams unexpectedly pulling at her, Barbara finds herself scrambling for answers. Her search takes her from DNA testing to 1950's debating clubs, from prom queens to stock fraud as she races to unravel truth from lies and trap a serial killer.Suddenly being a starving artist is looking pretty good.About the Author:Sharon Rowse is a Vancouver-based writer who has always loved reading, in every genre and every format. In the absence of a good book (which doesn't happen often now that we have e-books!) she's been known to read the back of the cereal boxes. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, Sharon is writing books in several series; mystery, historical mystery and fantasy. Her debut novel, THE SILK TRAIN MURDER (also available as an e-book) is the first book in the “Klondike-Era" mystery series. THE SILK TRAIN MURDER received starred reviews in Booklist and Quill & Quire and was nominated for an Arthur Ellis award for Best First Novel. Set in Vancouver during the Klondike era, THE SILK TRAIN MURDER captures the romance of the silk trains that raced across North America, and has a recovering gold miner for a hero. The second book in this series, which focuses on a legendary lost gold mine will soon be available. DEATH OF A SECRET is the first book in the “Barbara O'Grady" mystery series.Want to learn more information about Death of a Secret (A Barbara O'Grady Mystery: 1)?
