Howling at Wolves ReviewHaving seen "The World According to Garp" for the first time the other night, I'd say this story, Howling at Wolves, is rather like Garp on steroids (or maybe Viagra?) This book is very quirky, hysterically funny, and definitely out of the ordinary. Nothing is sacred... An out of work writer and his 80 some yr old college writing mentor take a road trip from Brooklyn to Canada - land of ice and snow. While the narrator pursues his long-lost love (as well as a new one or two), the professor spins his tales of bonding, tradition, and games. All invented, of course, but who cares?

Drive up to Canada to see the girl you were crazy about 25 years earlier--but never even kissed--carting along your 77-year-old former writing professor who can't sit more than two hours at a clip and swears he's vegan despite the fact that he has a butcher (with great boobs)?
