Dispersed Relations: Americans and Canadians in Upper North America (Woodrow Wilson Center Press) ReviewDispersed Relations: Americans and Canadians in Upper North America (Woodrow Wilson Center Press)
Sometimes I read history. It's like cracking a hard nut, but the nut is delicious if I can get it. Dispersed Relations by Reginald C. Stuart, a history scholar, is very interesting and sharp. The book examines the cross-boarder relationship in cultural, social, economic and political realms. The author has made many good points about the relations between Canada and the U.S. For example, I found it amusing and ringing true when I read the following passage-- "others call Canadians hypocritical to enjoy U.S. mass entertainment, wear Clavin Klein jeans, shop at Wal-Mart, and head for Disney World with their children, yet condemn the people who created all those pleasure." Why are things going like that? I wondered. Reading on, I found my answer.
Bacon said, "Histories make men wise." The policy makers should learn history and can gain wisdom.Dispersed Relations: Americans and Canadians in Upper North America (Woodrow Wilson Center Press) Overview
