I've lived in the Pacific NW for years, with many forays into Oregon and California, as well, and thought I knew a lot of the must-try eateries. Apparently, my knowledge is sorely deficient. This guide is going to keep me busy for a long time.The range of eateries covered is quite diverse, and the author's reviews strike just the right balance: enough detail on each place to quickly give you a really good sense of it, but not so much info that your attention flags as you read through each section. In addition to the brightly written reviews, there are many other features that have been incorporated into the text which make the book even more helpful and easy to use: icons to differentiate types of restaurants, web addresses, maps, road trip planning tips, suggestions on other interesting sites in each area, etc. If you're taking a long trip, or just want to plan a modest excursion, this book will be a valuable resource and companion. There's a lot of info squeezed between the covers, but the layout, organization, and writing style make it fun to go through.
