Canadian Cities in Transition: New Directions in the Twenty-First Century ReviewI recently finished this book for my second-year Geography class on urban geography. The writing is concise, and doesn't assume the student has extensive prior knowledge, which was helpful to me since I practically slept through my Geography 100 class. The textbook's well-researched body is apparent in the statistics and data that fills the page. Surprisingly, for a second and third year instructive text, the writing appeals to all kinds of student levels. It paints a strikingly clear illustration of Canadian cities and the developmental trends they've adopted. The way some chapters go, it almost reads like a history book through the eyes of the buildings and the roads themselves, starting with the genesis of modern cities from 1850s to current urban models today.
At times, the material can be drawling and difficult to piece together, but overall, the book is much better than the others my classmates and I have used.
